Ryan Lochte

Ryan Lochte had also been a member of the USA's gold–medal–winning 4 x 200m freestyle relay teams at Athens in 2004, Beijing in 2008, and London in 2012. He had also won two individual golds (one at Beijing and one at London), two individual silvers (at Athens and London), one silver as a member of a relay team (at London), and three individual bronze (two at Beijing and one at London). His twelve Olympic medals (six gold, three silver and three bronze) put him 13th on the list of multiple Olympic medallists and 21st on the list of multiple Olympic gold medallists.

Following the controversy at Rio, which inevitably became known in the social media as Lochtegate, he was charged with providing a false claim of a robbery. Speedo and Ralph Lauren immediately ended their endorsement deals, and Forbes magazine estimated that the scandal would cost him between five and ten million dollars in lifetime earnings.

Ryan Lochte was 32 years old in 2016.
